Our Story
Craft Theory began in Lakewood, Washington, as a welcoming studio space where creativity and community flourished. Founded by Meredith Russell in 2018 after discovering the expressive freedom of fluid painting, the studio became a haven for individuals seeking a judgment-free zone to explore art, connect with others, and support local makers.
As our community grew, so did our vision. Today, Craft Theory has transitioned into an online creative platform, continuing our commitment to making art accessible and meaningful. We offer thoughtfully curated DIY kits, handmade art, and resources designed to inspire self-expression, foster connection, and support mental wellness through crafting.
Our mission is to empower individuals—especially women and those in single-income households—to break generational cycles of poverty by providing access to creative tools, educational opportunities, and a supportive community. We believe that engaging in art can be a powerful catalyst for personal growth and healing.
Crafting in Chaos, our collaborative podcast with Luna from Bizarre Botanicals, extends this mission by exploring the intersections of creativity, mental health, and the beautifully messy aspects of life. Together, we share conversations that encourage listeners to embrace their unique creative journeys.
At Craft Theory, we celebrate the imperfect, the experimental, and the transformative power of making. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to a beloved hobby, we're here to support you every step of the way.
